Cassia occidentalis commonly known as Coffee senna is a herbaceous plant that belongs to the family fabaceae. The called “Sanga-Sanga" in Hausa, “Ewe Oriesi” Yoruba, and “Akidi Agbara” Igbo. pan-tropical plant. This research was aimed at evaluating phytochemicals antibacterial activity of extracts leaves Senna. Plant leaf samples were collected behind Department Biological Sciences Federal University Gusau. air dried grounded into powder using mortar pestle. phytochemical analysis both methalonic aqueous revealed presence Cardiac glycosides, Steroids, Flavonoids, Alkaloids, Saponin Saponins Tannins Anthraquines. Volatile oils, Balsams glycosides absent extracts. Methanolic screened for their antimicrobial against two bacterial strains by disk diffusion assay. pattern inhibition varied with solvent used extraction microorganism tested. Among these extracts, methanol showed significant tested microbes. most susceptible Salmonella typhi 22 mm zone extract (Methanol extract), then, followed Streptococcus epidermidis 20 Aqueous). study concludes Senna studied high growth, therefore can be ethno-medicine pharmaceutical industries.
